Dentists who are members of NOSMED aim to practice following  established parameters and guidelines standard for dental sleep medicine protocol.  The association offers an annual meeting where members receive access to leading dental sleep medicine related lectures.  Sleep Group Solutions leading Sleep Dentist and lecturer, Dr. Michael Hnat from Pittsburgh, PA said the symposium was a well organized and valuable  event.  “The first day I  presented a full day lecture on The Dentist’s Role in the Identification, Diagnosis and Treatment of Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders.   On the second day I presented a half day lecture which was a   literature based review and support of   Acoustic Reflection Airway Imaging as a Diagnostic and Treatment Guide for Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders”.  says Dr Hnat.

Both NOSMED lectures were very well received by the attendees and much support was given by the physicians acknowledging that dentists play important roles in the screening and treatment of sleep-related breathing problems.  “My emphasis was providing and using the information in the literature on Acoustic Reflection to aid the dentist in the proper use of the equipment and interpretation of the data to their benefit in screening and treating patients”.  says Dr. Hnat, “I was really amazed at the interest level of the audience to take the additional knowledge that they felt they gained from both lectures and incorporate it into their current dental sleep medicine treatment protocol for their patients.”
