Dr. Michael Hnat is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and has been in private practice for over thirty years. He serves as Dental Director of Progressive Dental Solutions-for Sleep and TMJ-a nationally accredited dental sleep medicine facility- in addition to his general dental practice. Dr. Hnat attended a 16 CEU dental sleep medicine Seminar with Sleep Group Solutions & dedicates a significant part of his clinical practice to oral appliance therapy for the treatment of sleep-related breathing problems, TMJ disorders along with head and neck muscle pain.
Dr. Hnat is credentialed by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and has standard proficiency certification for the diode laser from the Academy of Laser Dentistry. He maintains active memberships in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine(AADSM),the Academy of Laser Dentistry and and the American Academy of CranioFacial Pain (AACP). He has served on the Health Policy Education committee of the AADSM and currently serves on their facility Accreditation committee. As a member of the Appliance Therapy Practitioners Association - he is part of a national group of dentists skilled in providing oral appliances for TMJ and sleep apnea therapy.
Dr. Hnat lectures nationally and internationally to dentists,dental students, residents and other health care professionals on dental sleep medicine and the use of oral sleep appliance therapy for the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea. He is a guest lecturer for the continuing education departments of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and the West Virginia University School of Dentistry.Most recently, Dr Hnat was the keynote speaker at the 2015 Norwegian Sleep Symposium in Oslo,Norway and in 2016 lectured at the European Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine Joint Symposium for Northern Europe educating dentists from eleven European nations on dental sleep medicine. His true passion in this field is quite apparent in the standard of care delivered to his sleep patients and his lectures.
