Dr. Alan Avtges is the senior member of our team. As a dental health professional, he has been practicing for over 30 years. A graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, he received further training and certification from the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education. From 1982 to 1991, he served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, specifically in Germany, Italy, and during Operation Desert Storm. He worked as director of a non-profit children’s dental clinic from the mid-80s to the early-90s.
Today he enjoys traveling and occasionally performs dental missionary work in Mexico. In addition to providing the community with a wealth of knowledge and experience, Dr. Avtges also occasionally performs public lectures and has written articles for newspapers. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and is a member of the American Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Association of Functional Orthodontics, the Maine Dental Association and the Greater Portland Dental Society.
